A story about intergenerational trans identity
00:00 / 08:01

Since 2018, I've been unearthing the untold story of a clinic in Casablanca, Morocco that provided gender affirming surgery for thousands of trans women in the 1950s. After years of sleuthing, I got in touch with women who underwent procedures at the clinic, and traveled to Europe to interview them in December 2022. What I learned surprised me: rather than highlighting lessons for younger generations, my interviewees expressed a deep sense of alienation. This in-progress audio collage surfaces those tensions, while asking about commonalities from which we can dream towards collective trans futures.
